The team that took the court on Sunday, May 17, to face the Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t even look like the Detroit Pistons. Between the Pistons’ riveting Game 6 win on the road on Friday and Sunday’s matchup, something went wrong.

Heading into the game, Detroit was primed. Pistons star Cade Cunningham told reporters after Game 6 that he was looking forward to the “energy and “the opportunity” in Game 7, “just getting back to the city with an opportunity to do something special, win in front of our home crowd and move on.”
But the Pistons fell hard to the Cavs, 125-94. Now, social media is having a meltdown over it.
“This team can’t win playing terrible defense with Cade and Tobias struggling on offense. Nothing left to lean on,” one follower said on X.
“Trajan Langdon HAS to get Cade more help this offseason,” another added, saying that they need more than Jalen Duran.

“What a nightmare of a game to end the season with. Ultimately they reset the standard with 60 wins and making it out of the first round. But going out like this tastes bitter regardless of what expectations were during preseason. One of their worst performances in a long time,” Pistons beat reporter Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press stated on X.

Of course, some were on the other side and happy about the outcome. The Cavs will now move on in the playoffs and face the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals.
“Cleveland Cavaliers making sure Detroit feels every bit of this pain,” one said.
“Cleveland Cavaliers, well done,” another said.

“The Cavaliers traded for James Harden so they could make a deep playoff run. Today, they just made their first non-LeBron led conference finals since 1992. He’s a winner and their is no question his leadership helped the Cavs through adversity in both series,” one more said.
To the Cavs, congratulations, and best of luck against the Knicks. To the Pistons, also congratulations on a great season. Detroit will learn from this and come back stronger for it.
