Deion Sanders isn\u2019t just the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.<\/p>

The Pro Football Hall of Famer is also a father who\u2019s heavily invested in the success of his son, who just happens to play quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.<\/p>

And now that his son, Shedeur Sanders, has a new head coach in Cleveland, Deion has made it known he\u2019d like to speak with Todd Monken about how best to use his son and get the most out of him (Deion coaches Shedeur for two years at Jackson State and two more years at Colorado).<\/p>

\u201cI was supposed to go, actually next week \u2014 but I\u2019ve got to shoot a commercial \u2014 to Cleveland to meet [Monken] because I want to meet him, because I think it\u2019s vital that as a coach, not the dad, I can tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going,\u201d Deion said on Garrett Bush\u2019s podcast.<\/p>

\u201cThat wasn\u2019t asked of me a year ago. I don\u2019t understand it. Even a guy like Travis Hunter being drafted to Jacksonville and I\u2019ve had him for the last three [seasons], don\u2019t you think you would want to talk to me to ask me what gets him going and what backs him off? You would want to know that. So, I anticipate, and I can\u2019t wait to have that conversation with Coach Monken.\u201d<\/p>

It was widely known that Deion didn\u2019t exactly get along with former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. After the team drafted Shedeur in the fifth round of the 2025 draft, Deion kept his distance as the team seemingly didn\u2019t want him involved with Shedeur.<\/p>

Shedeur had a decent rookie season \u2014 passing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions \u2014 but he wasn\u2019t playing anywhere near the level he did during his senior year at Colorado playing under Deion, when he threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.<\/p>

With the slate getting wiped clean in Monken\u2019s first year, Shedeur is expected to compete with Deshaun Watson for the starting job in training camp. It\u2019s not known if Deion will be more hands-on in Shedeur\u2019s development going forward.<\/p>
