Its contents sparked concerns about the younger Biden&#8217;s finances and\u00a0ties to a Chinese energy company. Conservative media has also used the laptop to spread stories about Hunter Biden&#8217;s personal life and drug use.<\/p><p>Furthermore,\u00a0Twitter&#8217;s alleged suppression of a\u00a0<em>New York Post\u00a0<\/em>story about the laptop ahead of the 2020 presidential election was also the\u00a0basis of the Twitter files.<\/p><p>The former president\u2019s son has endured legal issues in recent years.<\/p><p>Hunter Biden was pardoned by his father before he left office. Preceding that, he was set to be sentenced\u00a0in two separate criminal cases: a felony gun charge and federal tax fraud. Hunter was convicted of three separate felony charges related to the 2018 purchase of a revolver in June 2024. He also pleaded guilty to nine tax evasion charges in September.<\/p><p>Prosecutors accused him of lying about his status as a drug user when purchasing a firearm in 2018. Section 922(g)(3) of the United States Code says it is against the law for anyone who is an &#8220;unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance&#8221; to possess a firearm.<\/p><h2>What Has Candace Owens Said About Hunter Biden Over the Years?<\/h2><p>Owens has been a critic of Hunter Biden amid the laptop scandal. In a 2022 interview on Fox News, Owens criticized the media\u2019s coverage of it.<\/p><p>\u201cI was confused.
